我國一直在地方層面推進人工智能創新發展試驗區建設。科技部表示，去年，我國啟動建設新一代人工智能創新發展試驗區，依托地方政府開展技術示范、政策試點和社會試驗。
China has been promoting artificial intelligence (AI) innovative development pilot zones at local levels. Last year, China started to build a new generation of national AI innovative development pilot zones, relying on local governments to carry out technology demonstration, policy pilot and social experiments, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology.

國家新一代人工智能創新發展試驗區是依托地方開展人工智能技術示范、政策試驗和社會實驗，在推動人工智能創新發展方面先行先試、發揮引領帶動作用的區域。試驗區建設以促進人工智能與經濟社會發展深度融合為主線，創新體制機制，深化產學研用結合，集成優勢資源，構建有利于人工智能發展的良好生態，全面提升人工智能創新能力和水平，打造一批新一代人工智能創新發展樣板，形成一批可復制可推廣的經驗，引領帶動全國人工智能健康發展。2019年8月，科技部印發的《國家新一代人工智能創新發展試驗區建設工作指引》提出的建設目標是，到2023年，布局建設20個左右試驗區，創新一批切實有效的政策工具，形成一批人工智能與經濟社會發展深度融合的典型模式，積累一批可復制可推廣的經驗做法，打造一批具有重大引領帶動作用的人工智能創新高地。
